Amsterdam – The Netherlands
This space, located at the rear of a converted school building, is one of six apartments housed by the structure, and is designed to function as a studio as well as an apartment. The building is located in The Jordaan, one of Amsterdam’s oldest neighborhoods and once an enclave for tradesmen and artisans. The high-ceilinged space is used to add a cantilevered mezzanine floor in order to create an endless spatial flow through the apartment. The living room, with fireplace, serves as a lobby. It is the focal point of the apartment, with all the other spaces radiating from its core.
